About Ryan Hill International
An independent guide to forming a Dutch BV from abroad, organised by the founder's home country.
Ryan Hill International is an independent editorial guide for founders who want to set up a Dutch private limited company (BV) while living, or having lived, somewhere else.
Most guides to Dutch company formation are written for a generic reader. In practice the questions change with the passport: an American asks about the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty and US tax on foreign companies, a British founder asks what Brexit changed, an Indian founder asks about outbound investment rules and apostilles. So every guide here is written to one nationality at a time. It opens with what is different for you and ends with a checklist for your situation.
We explain rules, routes and documents in plain language and link them to the official sources where we can. We are not a law firm or a tax adviser, and nothing here is personal advice. Rules change, and your own facts matter: check the current position with the Dutch authorities, a notary or a qualified adviser before you act.
Spotted something outdated or unclear? Corrections make every guide better, and we treat them as part of the work.
How the guides are organised
Five country desks cover founders from the United States, the United Kingdom, India, the Gulf states, and China and the rest of Asia. Three cross-border lanes cover what applies to every passport: comparing home-country and Dutch company rules, sector-specific guides, and residence routes by nationality.
